What stays in your browser

The project details, contact details, parcel names and boundaries you enter are processed in your browser. Tao Climate does not receive or store them automatically. The GeoJSON file is created locally and is only sent to Tao Climate if you choose to attach it to an email.

Map and place-search services

The map uses OpenStreetMap tiles. When you view the map, technical request information such as your IP address and the map area requested is sent to the relevant tile service. If you use place search, the search wording is sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim. Browser location is requested only after you select “Use my location”; the resulting coordinates are used locally to move the map and are not sent to Tao Climate or Google Analytics.

Optional Google Analytics

If you select “Accept analytics”, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits and whether key steps such as drawing a parcel, downloading GeoJSON or opening the support email are completed. We do not send project names, contact details, map searches, coordinates or GeoJSON contents to Analytics. Advertising storage, Google Signals and advertising personalisation are disabled.

The legal basis for optional analytics is your consent. Analytics remains disabled if you reject it. Your choice is stored in your browser for up to 180 days, after which we ask again.

Information received by email

If you email a GeoJSON file to Tao Climate, we use the project and contact information to assess the boundary, support the proposed project and maintain appropriate project records. We retain it only for as long as reasonably needed for those purposes and applicable legal or contractual requirements.

Your choices and rights

You can accept or reject analytics and reopen Cookie settings from the tool footer. You may also ask Tao Climate for access to, correction of or deletion of personal information we hold, or object to or restrict its processing where applicable. Contact support@taoclimate.com. You may complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
